Prayer Corner 3

Ours is a country that is defiled and polluted by sin. Idolatry runs deep in the Kenyans society and the most visible manifestation of it is in the occult. Witchcraft in Kenya actually works in tandem with our traditions. This is why the Kenyan Government laws protect witches masquerading as traditional healers.

Pray against the powers of the occult. Pray that all altars built for witchcraft would be broken. Confess and repent on behalf of our country, leadership and the church for having given preeminence to the occult more than even God. Pray that in place of the fear of the occult, the fear of God would grip Kenyans.

Immorality is the second sin that is so prevalent in our society and that the enemy has used to defile our land. Confess and repent of this sin on behalf of the country, the leadership and the church. Pray particularly against immorality: that all altars of immorality and sensuality in the nation would be broken.

The enemy has also used bloodshed to pollute and defile our nation (Num. 35:33ff) and we are all guilty of this sin as Kenyans. Confess on behalf of the country, the leadership and the church for the blood spilt in this country. Pray that God would not hold against us the blood that cries from the ground for vengeance.

We have not taken care of the poor, the widows, the orphans and the aliens in our midst. We are guilty of oppression as a people. We have oppressed the poor, the widows, the orphans and the aliens in our land. Kenyans repent on behalf of our country, the leadership and the church for this sin. Pray that God would give us hearts of compassion for the poor and destitute amongst us.

God hates it when we break covenants (2 Sam. 21). The history of our country is riddled with broken covenants. Let us confess on behalf of the country, the leadership and the church. Pray that in God’s anger with us as a people, He would remember mercy.

Pray against the territorial demons over the different cities in our country. Pray that these gates would indeed lift up their heads for the King of Glory as He walks into our cities. Pray against any wicked schemes that these demons would be planning against our cities.

The church has also been guilty of compromise. Pray that God would forgive the Kenyan church and that any altars that may consequently have been built would be broken. Pray for a revival in the church: that Kenyans would indeed shine forth with the character of Christ.

The media reported militia groups being prepared in different parts of the country to rise against other tribes. Pray against the spirits of retaliation and that any tribal regroupings bent on causing harm and destruction would indeed be disbanded in the name of Christ.

The mediation talks have hit a snag and have as a result been suspended. Pray against the spirits that drive the different camps to love power. Pray this particularly for Hon. Kibaki and Raila.
